Unfortunately, a home loan is generally the most expensive and lengthy ﬁnancial commitment that most people will make in their lifetimes. Therefore, a lack of understanding as to how lenders charge for their services can have a costly and long-term impact on a borrower’s ﬁnances.
This is not to imply that all—or even most—mortgage professionals are amoral beasts, drooling at any opportunity to devour unsuspecting consumers. One’s profession does not determine one’s character. However, a wise consumer understands that even the best of us may submit to temptation from time to time, which brings me back to my theme.
